Ann E. Penn

Ann Penn is currently the Director of the Equal Opportunity/ADA Office at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is responsible for developing and administering the university’s equal opportunity programs and plans, oversight and monitoring of the recruitment and hiring process for faculty and administrators, training, handling complaints, and working closely with facilities and student disability services on matters of accessibility and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance issues.

Prior to her appointment at UNC-Chapel Hill, she worked at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio as the Director Equal Opportunity/Affirmative and Women’s Resource Center. She also worked as Director Equal Opportunity and Diversity at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and as an Equal Opportunity Compliance Investigator with the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Programs.

Her experience includes providing leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of equal opportunity and affirmative programs, harassment and discrimination complaint investigation and resolution, diversity training, sexual harassment training and ADA compliance, women’s center programming, sexual assault and domestic violence prevention and education.

She has a master’s degree in psychology from Cleveland State University and holds a diversity management certificate from Cleveland State University and NTL Institute for Behavioral Sciences, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Myers University.
