Edwina Blackwell Clark

Edwina Blackwell Clark is Editor/Publisher of the Journal-News in Hamilton, Ohio. She was named to the position on January 1, 2001. Edwina came to the Journal-News from the Dayton Daily News, where she held a number of positions including Assistant Managing Editor/Administration, Regional Editor and Product Marketing Manager. A native of Springfield, Ohio, Edwina earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University. She has a master’s in business administration from the University of Dayton. 

Ms. Clark started her career at the Cincinnati Post where she covered general assignment and religion. She went to the Dayton Daily News in November of 1986 and as a reporter, she covered police, minority affairs and county government.

In 1988, she graduated from the Multicultural Management Program at the University of Missouri. From 1988 to 1993, in addition to being a reporter, she was coordinator of the Dayton Daily News’ Editorial Department Mainstreaming Committee. The group was set up to train employees on how to avoid cultural bias in news content. As coordinator, Ms. Clark helped to create a minority source list, she conducted a content analysis of the newspaper and she planned cultural sensitivity workshops for the staff.

Ms. Clark has been the recipient of a number of honors. In 1999, she was a Women in Media honoree for the National Council of Negro Women. She currently serves on the board of trustees for the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she is a member of the Recruitment and Youth Development and Workplace Issues subcommittee of the Newspaper Association of America Board Diversity Committee.
