Brenda J. ResmondBrenda Redmond is a staff attorney with the Office for Civil Rights of the United States Department of Education in Cleveland, Ohio. OCR is responsible for enforcing five Federal civil rights laws (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title II of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975), which collectively prohibit discrimination based on sex, race/color/national origin, disability and age. Ms. Redmond has been employed by OCR since June 2001. She frequently presents on disability issues for schools and colleges and has published an article on the rights of students with food allergies under Section 504 and Title II. She is a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Law, and also received a Journalism degree from OSU. |
