Michael P. Marsh

Michael P. Marsh is a civil rights advocate and the development manager for the Toledo Fair Housing Center. In that capacity, Mr. Marsh is in charge of fund raising and public relations for the Center. He also coordinates educational outreach activities.

Mr. Marsh is an alumnus of Bowling Green State University, where he earned a Masters of Arts degree in American Culture Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism (cum laude). He is a part time faculty member of Bowling Green State University's Ethnic Studies Department, and he developed a cultural diversity training seminar, which he has conducted for organizations, such as the Toledo Board of Realtors.

Mr. Marsh has been successful in building relationships with local and national media, resulting in extensive coverage of fair housing and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs. He has planned successful news conferences for organizations such as the Ohio Fair Housing Congress. He has written articles for publications such as the Toledo Realtor and has been interviewed for articles in local and national publications.

Mr. Marsh has been the successful author or co-author of grants that have brought over $1.3 million to the Center. He also began the annual Bid Against Discrimination fund raising auction for the Center in 1998. These events have raised over $40,000 for the victims of housing discrimination. Most recently, Mr. Marsh created the Friends of Fair Housing member/donor program for the Center, which, to date, has raised over $14,000 for the victims of housing discrimination.

Mr. Marsh serves on the Board of Directors of David's House Compassion, Inc. (Chair, Development Committee), Toledo Board of Realtor's Equal Opportunity in Housing Committee, the State of the State Conference Planning Committee, and the Toledo Housing Fund. He is a member of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives and is active in the local chapter, serving on the Planning Committee and chairing the Scholarship Committee. He also serves as Treasurer for the Toledo Area Alliance to End Homelessness. Finally, he has attended and presented at a number of conferences at the local, state and national levels.
